BOSTON – November 19, 2024 – In response to the news that HP will discontinue sales of the HP Teradici Tera 2 chipsets for zero clients and remote workstations, Leostream Corporation announced today that the world-leading Leostream® Remote Desktop Access Platform will continue to support Tera 2 into the foreseeable future.

Zero clients are popular in many enterprises and especially so in markets such as financial services, broadcast and media, and government. With no local storage or operating system, end users cannot install, delete, or change anything, making them far less vulnerable to breaches and malware.

Many Leostream customers use zero clients to log into the Leostream Platform and then connect to PCoIP-enabled remote desktops, including workstations with an installed Remote Workstation Card (Tera 2) or an external host card, and desktops running an HP Anyware agent. This gives organizations a hosted desktop environment with the security of a zero client and the performance of PCoIP, along with additional flexibility and configurability of the Leostream Platform compared to conventionally architected virtual desktops.

“While the decision to EOL Tera 2 certainly introduces an opportunity for customers to investigate newer and more powerful products, there are millions of zero clients in the field and our intention is to continue to support Tera 2 for those who don’t see a reason to transition,” said Randy Foster, Leostream VP of Sales, Channel and Alliances. “Those who want to switch in the future can use the Leostream Platform with nearly any client device and display protocol, so current HP Tera 2 customers can choose their own adventure based on their needs, instead of being locked into a successor product.”

The Leostream Platform supports HP Anyware clients, including the Trusted Zero Client, for customers looking to migrate away from standard zero clients. Leostream also offers a migration path with its support for alternative high-performance display protocols such as Amazon DCV and Mechdyne TGX.

HP will discontinue sales of Tera 2 at the end of 2024 and discontinue support at the end of 2029.

The Leostream Remote Desktop Access Platform for hosted desktops and workstations offers a comprehensive solution for remote access to maintain productivity, control costs, and ensure security with strict authentication and authorization built on zero-trust concepts. Its connection management system eliminates clunky corporate VPNs with an ultra-efficient gateway that gives users access to only the specific resources they have permission to use, automatically, regardless of their location or device. The Leostream Platform shines even in environments that rely on complex, specialty applications like energy and science; large files such as media and entertainment; real-time performance like financial services; and bulletproof network security like government and defense.
