We are pleased to announce the latest release of the Leostream Connection Broker 8.2.33! Broker 8.2.33 is a small update from 8.2.27 but includes two new features we are excited to share with you.

Overprovisioning Virtual Machines with vMotion

VMware centers now allow you to specify the maximum number of running virtual machines on each host, indicating to the Connection Broker if it should vMotion stopped virtual machines to a new host before powering them on. By specifying a maximum number of running virtual machines on any particular host, you can overprovision pools as needed while only maintaining enough hosts to support as many machines as you would need running simultaneously. This feature is great for saving on hardware costs, particularly for graphics-intense use cases.  To learn more, check out this blog post.

Provision VMware Linked Clones

The Leostream Connection Broker 8.2.33 now supports provisioning VMware Linked Clones from virtual machine snapshots. Linked Clones differ from full clones in that a full clone is an independent copy of a virtual machine that shares nothing with the parent machine, whereas a linked clone shares virtual disk space with the parent machine. Linked Clones can be created quickly and are perfect for collaboration. Check out this quick video demo of how to provision Linked Clones in Leostream.
