One of the challenges in a VDI environment is to ensure that each end user always has access to the correct printers. Because an end user can access their desktop from a client device in any geographical location, assigning a static set of printers to their desktop is inappropriate; the end user may inadvertently send their printed document to the other side of the building, or world. To improve the end user's experience with VDI, the default and available printers should coincide with the physical location of the user's client device.
The Leostream Connection Broker allows organizations to provide each end user with the correct network printers, based on the geographical location of the client device they are logging in through.
Using the Leostream Connection Broker, organizations can:
- Register individual or all network printers with the Connection Broker, including printers cataloged in a Microsoft® Active Directory® service.
- Create printer plans, which define groups of printers along with a default printer for each group.
- Assign printer plans based on a client device's location, giving the end user access to the printers closest to their client.
- Allow users to continue accessing their local printers while automatically providing access to the correct set of network printers.
