Virtual Desktop Security - Simply Complex: A Virtual Strategy Magazine Video Tutorial with Eric Hanselman
A major benefit of VDI is its ability to improve data protection and simplify security management. But VDI also introduces complexities into desktop security that can create real problems if they are not well-understood going into a deployment. Eric Hanselman, Leostream's Director of Professional & Technical Services, discusses the practical security aspects of VDI connection management, how to minimize complexity, and reap the benefits VDI brings to desktop security.
Processor Magazine Recommends Virtual Desktops as a "Telecommuting Best Practice"
A profusion of Web-based tools and resources make it easier than ever to telecommute, but that doesn’t make IT’s job a cinch. With so many security concerns and management issues, making sure that telecommuters are set up properly and working efficiently can be a daunting task. Processor Magazine explores best practices for streamlining support, security, and management for telecommuting end users, including the use of virtual hosted desktops and a connection broker to centralize desktops in the data center, provide control, risk management, security, and resource savings.

Federal Computer News - How to Cut Desktop Computer Costs & Boost Security with VDI
Desktop virtualization technologies probably won't make users any more appreciative, but by centralizing desktop administration tasks in the data center they can lighten the load on the IT department while enhancing security. Estimates on the potential cost savings vary widely because the upfront costs for buying virtualization systems or upgrading existing infrastructure such as networks to support it shift depending on the would-be implementer’s situation. But analysts do agree that overall costs will come down in the long run, sometimes significantly.

Xtravirt, "the Virtualization Knowledge Portal," and a British consultancy in virtualization technologies, recently published a white paper providing an overview of VDI and connection brokers. It goes on to discuss Leostream and provides a table of some of the Connection Broker's product features.
