Brian spoke with Mike Palin and Eric Hanselman a couple of weeks ago about Leostream and why, in a world where "big companies buy little VDI parts makers," Leostream's open and vendor-independent approach to connection brokering is so critical. In a quick illustration of the point, Brian gave the example that even a "pure" Citrix shop "might find themselves having to integrate a third-party SSL-VPN
or two-factor authentication system that isn't going away." Something that is hard or impossible to achieve with a solution based on one vendor's stack.

I.R.I.S. Chooses Leostream for the I.R.I.S. ICT Virtual Desktop Solution
I.R.I.S., a Belgian OCR technology company and VAR selected the Leostream Connection Broker for a
virtual desktop solution to support a massive scanning and archiving
project by Service Public Fédéral Finances (SPF Finances), the Belgian
Public Federal Finance Administration.

essential for
creating the kind of dependable, large-scale desktop virtualization
infrastructure that SPF Finances can depend upon. It’s

The Connection Broker has also been selected for the I.R.I.S. ICT Virtual Desktop Solution, a server-based desktop (VDI) solution that makes it possible to address PC desktop challenges while optimizing usability, manageability with dedicated tools, TCO, and flexibility.

This joint solution delivers on the promise of fully-featured, enterprise-class VDI. Hermes Fund Managers Uses Leostream to Provide Virtual PCs to its End Users
Hermes Fund Managers Ltd. engaged Panacea Services to develop a
centrally-controlled virtual desktop infrastructure to provide secure,
remote access to its end users. The solution is designed to host
virtual PCs using VMware Infrastructure, and HP servers and storage.
The Leostream Connection Broker provides the interface between end
users and the virtual PCs. Connection Broker policies enable the
virtual PCs to be customized and tailored to the requirements of
individuals and departments.
With this solution, Hermes provides
convenient, customized remote access for end users while benefiting
from centralized management and control of virtual desktops; enhanced
security and disaster recovery; and power and hardware cost savings
